This is a fantastic recipe I prepare at least once per month. I enjoy it served with corn mashed with potatoes as well as homemade biscuits.
This recipe is good to begin. If you combine 1 can of Cream of Mushroom and 2 tablespoons of Worchestershire Sauce and 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar and substitute Beef Broth to water you’ll get Homemade SauerBraten.
This is the sole method I use to cook a roast today. The only thing I add is a bit of worchestershire sauce and kitchen bouquet gravy browing and a bit of dehydrated onions. Easy and delicious.

3 Envelope Roast
3 pound beef roasts, like chuck roast
1 envelope dry Italian salad dressing mix
1 envelope of ranch dressing dry mix
One envelope of brown gravy mix that is dry and uncooked.
2 cups of water
Place the water in an measuring cup that is greater than that amount you’re using. Then add the three envelopes into the water. Mix until the mixture is completely mixed.
Brown your roast (if you wish). Put the roast into the cooker. Add the water and salad dressing and roast. The slow cooker will, cook it on high for around 4 hours and low for around 8 hours.
