This is an easy and simple recipe to make cheese danish, which my family loves. It is best served fresh from oven however, it can be stored for a few days if wrapped and stored inside the frig.
It is also easy to reheat when microwaved for just a couple of seconds. Try this easy recipe with your family members and see if they beg about it!
Ingredients:
2 cans ready to use refrigerated crescent rolls
2 8-ounce packages cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg white
Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease the 13×9-inch baking pan.Lay the crescent rolls inside the pan, and then pinch the sides in.
Mix the cream cheese with sugar, vanilla and egg until it is smooth.
Spread the mixture evenly over the crescent rolls in a uniform manner and then place the second package of crescent rolls over the cheese mixture. Then, brush the egg with white.
Bake for 35-45 minutes , or until the top of the cake is golden brown.
The glaze can be added after cooling for 20 mins.
Side Notes:
This danish can be made using cream cheese that is low in fat as well as splenda (sugar substitute) and it’s delicious!
The original recipe calls for an extremely densely filled Danish that is very heavily filled. It is possible to reduce the filling by using one package of cream cheese 1 teaspoon of sugar 1 full egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Still very delicious. If you choose to use an half-filled filling, you need to bake it for close than 30 to 35 minutes.
