This delight is made 3 ingredients for the crust and 5 ingredients for both fillings. For the base crust, we mix the crackers with melted butter and sugar. For the filling, we mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar, vanilla extract and cool whip. We pour the cherry filling on top and we place the pie in the fridge to cool for a minimum of 2 hours. As you can see, this pie is easy to put together and it is definitely worth the wait. Yum!
This classic cherry pie is made of three layers; the buttered graham crust base, the cream cheese filling and the cherry filling. These create a marvelous taste and texture. For the latter, when the graham cracker is combined with melted butter, this gives a sandy texture in the base; not too crunchy. We spread the cream cheese mixture on top to have a creamy pie and we add the cherry filling on top to add flavour to our pie. This cherry pie tastes fruity and refreshing thanks to its layers.
Of course you are free to substitute the cherry filling with any flavour that you like. You can also choose the thickness of the crust. You can choose to make it as thick as the filling or thinner.
