This recipe introduces one of the simplest biscuits you can ever prepare. They are made in one pan and cut to serve you and your loved ones. They make up a great snack. They are also great to start your day with in breakfast with hot chocolate, coffee or any beverage that you like.

These blueberry biscuit are marvelous. They taste exquisite. They are sweet enough and you are going to love them. In addition to this, they are soft, spongy and moist. Thanks to the baking powder and the baking soda, the texture of our biscuits is sponge-like. Moreover the honey butter on top add a unique taste and special moisture to the outside and the inside of our biscuits. The blueberries also add an important taste and texture to or biscuits. They make them tender and juicy. And who wouldn’t like the taste of blueberries.

 

This American breakfast/snack recipe is very easy to make with the simplest ingredients ever. They are also prepared with no real effort made. They are prepared in 15 minutes and cooked for the remaining time. You will also not need many dishes to prepare. So, you can technically make them early in the morning and bake the in the oven while you are preparing yourself to go to work. They are served warm. You house will be filled with an amazing smell from the morning.

How to serve?

How to store?

Store these biscuits in an airtight container on your counter at room temperature.

 

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1¼ teaspoons table salt
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into one and a half inch pieces and chilled)
  • 1 ½ cups blueberries (7.5 ounces)
  • 1 ⅔ cups chilled buttermilk

 

Honey Butter

  • 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • A pinch of table salt

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prepare the oven by placing the oven rack in the middle and heating it to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Take you 8-inch square baking pan and grease it with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt.
  4. Add butter to the flour mixture and rub it using your hands.
  5. Add blueberries and toss them with some flour mixture.
  6. Stir in the buttermilk gently until you no longer have lumps.
  7. Spread the dough into an even layer in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  8. Spray your bench scraper with vegetable oil spray and cut the dough into 9 equal squares. Do not fully cut so as not to separate.
  9. Put it in the prepared oven to bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the top is browned and a paring knife come out clean when inserted.
  10. In the meantime, let’s prepare the honey butter. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, honey and salt together. Put it aside.
  11. Remove the pan from the oven and allow the biscuits to coon in the pan for 5 minutes.
  12. Using a prepared baking sheet, turn the biscuits.
  13. Place them back face up on the wire rack (re-invert them onto the wire rack)
  14. Brush the face of the biscuits with the honey butter prepared.
  15. Allow them to cool for another 10 minutes.
  16. Cut the biscuits using serrated knife. (The previous cut-marks will help you cut your biscuits)
  17. Serve them while they are still warm and enjoy!

 

Notes:

  • You can use frozen blueberries if you like. Just make sure to thaw and rinse them before you toss them in the flour mixture.
  • It is also okay to grease your pan with butter instead of nonstick cooking spray.
  • Instead of brushing these biscuits with honey butter, you can drizzle them with powdered sugar icing. You can make this by taking a bowl and whisking 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2 tbsps of milk and a pinch of salt. You can also add lemon juice instead of milk with a little bit of lemon zest to this icing.
  • If you don’t have buttermilk, you can prepare it on your own. You just have to place 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in a measuring cup. Add whole milk and let it sit for 10 minutes before you use it in our recipe.
