Creating this breakfast pizza is a satisfying kitchen adventure. We start with a layer of canned biscuit dough as our pizza crust, creating a flaky, tender base. While that pre-bakes, we whip up a flavorful sausage gravy, just like grandma used to make. This becomes our “pizza sauce,” which we spread over the partially baked biscuit crust.

 

Next, a generous sprinkling of shredded cheddar cheese adds a layer of melty goodness. Finally, we crack a few eggs on top, giving our breakfast pizza its finishing touch. Back into the oven it goes until the eggs are cooked to your liking.

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
1 lb breakfast sausage
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4-6 large eggs

 

 

Instructions:

 

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Press the biscuit dough into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, making sure to cover the bottom completely. Bake the dough for about 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

While the biscuit dough is baking, cook the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage, stirring to combine. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a simmer. Continue to cook and stir until the gravy has thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Spread the sausage gravy over the partially baked biscuit crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the gravy. Carefully crack the eggs on top of the cheese.

Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked to your liking.
