INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 bell peppers, thinly sliced
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 lb. sirloin steak
1 tsp. oregano
12 slices provolone
12 egg roll wrappers
2/3 c. plus 2 tsp. vegetable oil
Ketchup, for serving, if desired
What is the best way to make Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls:
Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a pan at medium-high heat over the flame.
Step 2: Add the steak onions and peppers into the skillet and cook until beef has tender and the veggies are soft.
Step 3: Mix in the seasoning for steak according to taste. remove any fat that is not needed. Let the mixture of meat cool for a while.
Step 4: Lay the egg wrappings on flat surfaces and then brush the edges of the exterior with the beating egg.
Step 5: Place a layer of the meat mix in the middle inside each wrapper making sure to avoid the edges.
Step 6: Top the filling inside each wrapper with the cheese cut in half.
Step 7: Fold in the sides of each wrapper for an egg roll Then fold up the bottom edge and roll the wrapper around filling, closing it by folding in the top edge, creating the pocket.
Step 8: Heat several inches of vegetable oil in a wide-sided pan or wok with a medium temperature in the oven.
Step 9: Fry the egg rolls until golden brown and crisp across all the sides. Then drain on a paper towel lined plate prior to serving.
