We make celery juice by using 2 ingredients only; celery and apples. This takes3 main steps only. We start by washing celery thoroughly making sure to remove any dirt on the inside and the surface. We press it through the fountain juicer. We acknowledge that the taste of celery alone can be a little bit difficult to consume. In order to add natural sweetness to this juice, we add apples. We alternate between the celery and the apples so that both tastes incorporate well. You can substitute the apples with any fruit that you like. For alternatives, check the notes’ section below. This fruit addition remains totally optional. We add them only to make the taste a little bit more pleasing. We top the juice with some ice cubes to make it more refreshing.

Celery juice has many health benefits. First, it lowers blood pressure. Because celery is rich in a chemical compound called 3nB, it contributes in lowering blood pressure. Second, celery contains antioxidants which lead to reducing the LDL and high cholesterol levels. INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 large bunch celery
  • Optional: 3 green apples

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Wash the celery completely while making sure to run your fingers on the surface, the inside and the outside of the stalk.
  2. Put the celery with the leaves through the juicer. Add apples if you are using any. (Take turns between the celery and apples)
  3. Drink right away while it is fresh.

 

Notes:

  • Although apples are optional, they make the consistency and the taste better.
  • To double the quantity, double the amount of ingredients. (To triple the quantity, use the triple of ingredients).
  • Apples sweeten the juice. You can also add other fruits like pineapple, pears or strawberries.
  • If you like cold juice, add some ice cubes to your glass.
  • You can also add ginger, lemon juice or cucumber. This adds flavour and keep juice low in calories.
  • If you do not have a fountain juicer, you can make this juice in a blender. Just cut the celery with the leaves finely. Add a ¼ cup of water and blend on high speed. Using a cheesecloth, strain the juice and drink right away.
  • If the juice is not consumed right away, the enzymes will break down.

 

Some tips to make this juice successfully:

  • Use fresh celery; an organic one would be even better.
  • Make sure to wach it thoroughly. Celery carries pesticides more than other fruits and veggies.
  • We know that the taste of this juice can be a little bit strong, but adding some ice cubes to it would make it easier to drink.

 

How to serve?

Serve in a large glass that can contain 16 to 20 ounces of juice. Pour in smaller glasses.

 

How to store?

It is better to consume this drink immediately. However, you can store any leftovers in an airtight container for a maximum of 24 hours. You can cover the glass with plastic wrap, too.
