INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 Cups of chopped pecans
  • ¾ Cup of melted unsalted sweet cream butter,
  • ½ Cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 – 11 oz caramel bits
  • 1 Box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 Cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • ⅓ Cup canola oil
  • 1 container of chocolate fudge frosting

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prepare the oven by heating it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease you 9×13 baking dish with pam baking spray and set aside.
  3. Combine the cake mix with oil, milk and eggs using a hand mixer. You should obtain a smooth batter.
  4. Take half of this batter and pour it in the baking dish.
  5. Place this in the oven to bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Once it is baked, remove the pan from the oven.
  7. Put the caramel bits, butter and evaporated milk in a saucepan and place them over medium heat.
  8. Combine these ingredients together until they melt and become smooth.
  9. Pour this caramel mixture on top the baked cake.
  10. Top this layer with chocolate chips and pecans.
  11. Add in the rest of the cake batter over the last pecans and chocolate chips layer.
  12. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
  13. Let it cool thoroughly once you remove it from the oven.
  14. When it is cool enough, spread the softened chocolate fudge evenly over the cake.
  15. Top with chocolate chips and pecans.

  • It is recommended to use evaporate milk. It is thicker and makes the cake really moist. If you have any evaporated milk left, you can store it for other uses. You can use it with coffee or in other desserts.
  • For the topping, you can use either a ganache or frosting.
  • You can use any cake mix that you prefer. You can also make your own homemade cake.
