Chicken Tetrazzini

This recipe is one of the easiest dinner ideas you can ever prepare. It is very soft, creamy and flavourful. To make the sauce of tetrazzini, we combine the cream of chicken soup and sour cream. When the linguini is mixed with this sauce , it becomes very creamy. In addition to this, we use chicken broth to add a special chicken flavor to our pasta. To create additional taste, we top our dish with two types of cheese which creates an extraordinary cheesy texture.

 

Chicken Tetrazzini is made in less than an hour. It is a great idea for a dinner gathering with you and your loved ones. What’s great about this dish is that you can even make it ahead of time and bake it when you are ready to serve (See notes below). This dish alone is a full meal; however, you can serve it with other side dishes (Some suggestions are mentioned below).

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth/ stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black ground pepper
  • 4 cooked and chopped chicken breasts
  • 16 ounces of cooked linguini
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cook linguini according to the instructions in the package.
  2. Prepare the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Combine butter with dour cream, the cream of the chicken soup chicken broth or stock, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.  Add in the chopped chicken and mix.
  4. In the mixing bowl, pour the cooked linguini. Mix so that everything is covered with the sauce.
  5. Put the pasta and sauce into a 9×13 baking dish (glass)
  6. Spread the mozzarella evenly on top of the pasta and spread the parmesan over it.
  7. Place it in the oven to cook for a maximum of 40 minutes. Make sure that you have melted cheese and bubbly sauce in the edges.
  8. Allow it to cool a little bit and serve it while it’s warm.

 

Notes:

  • You can store this pasta in the freezer. Just make sure to wrap it in plastic wrap and keep it for a maximum of 2 months. If you’d like to have it, allow it to thaw in the freezer overnight. Then, bake it as usual.
  • You can keep what’s left in an airtight container in the fridge. Just toss it in the microwave or the oven when you are ready to have it.
  • You can serve this dish with a fresh salad, steamed vegetables, bread stick, or garlic bread.
  • You can also use a whole store bought pre-cooked chicken. Or you can boil it in a different pot while your linguini is cooking.
  • You can make this dish a day before, cover it with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge. When you are ready to serve it, bake it according to the instructions above.
  • OPTIONAL: Garnish your baking dish with a sprinkle of parsley on top.
