Peanut Butter Balls with Rice Krispies

Time: 3 hours                   Servings: 36 peanut butter balls.

This recipe introduces an American dessert that people from different ages enjoy. My kids, my parents and I love to have them. I like to serve them after a meal, for a midday snack or with a beverage that I like. (Hot or cold) They are also great if you would like to gift them for someone. For example, if you would like to welcome your new neighbor.

These peanut butter balls are like little drops from heaven. They taste marvelously and you can’t get enough of them. They are made with 6 ingredients that you can find available in every store. Each ingredient has an important role and contributes greatly to the magnificent taste of these balls. Whether you choose crunchy or creamy peanut butter, the taste will remain the same. You can choose any brand that you prefer. For butter, it makes the texture of these balls creamier and buttery. Powdered sugar adds special sweetness to the mixture. The cereal adds crunchiness to the inside of these sweets to balance out the texture. Additionally, the semi-sweet chocolate chips coat the peanut butter balls from the outside. They are not too sweet which makes this treat fairly sweet. (the perfect amount)

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening (soft)

  3. Add in the cereal and stir to incorporate it in the creamy peanut butter mixture.
  4. Take a little bit of the mixture and shape it into balls. Put it in a cookie sheet.
  5. Put the sheet in the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. To melt the chocolate, add shortening and chocolate chips in a large microwave safe bowl.
  7. Melt for 1 minute. Then, stir.
  8. Place it back in the microwave to heat for 20 to 30 seconds. Take it out again and stir. Repeat this process until the chocolate melts completely.
